Cross-Country Roadtrip Costs (specific)?
I’m planning on taking roadtrips in the years to come. I do not need advice on places to go, but I have some general questions about the cost
1. I am planning on buying the National Parks Annual Pass. Does this cover all expenses into the parks and camping? Or are there extra rates on top of the price of the pass?
2. I plan to stop at roadside farmers markets to have fresh fruit and plan on bringing PB & J. If I were to do this, without stopping out to eat anywhere, what would you recommend as a daily food allowance?
3. What are other cheap ways to spend the night? I am planning on camping in a tent or in my car, how much do you think would be a good amount to save for a per night sleeping allowance?
I know that I will also have to average in the cost of gas, tolls, and unexpected vehicle repairs. Is there anything else I am overlooking?
1. park pass covers only the admission fee NOT parking, camping, receration, or tour fees.
2. I usually allow about $25 a day for food cost on my road trips but I do a lot of cup a soup kind of meals and only one real meal a day.
3. I like to budget $50 a day for a campsite.you may get a free campsite some nights or you may have to spend the night in a motel this givers you a little room to play with. most campsites run about $25 a night.
